The Great Turf Company’s consultation provides the starting point for cost effective turf management which prioritises microbial activity and turf nutrition, reducing dependence on chemical inputs.

Our high level of expertise and extensive experience in turfgrass management coupled with independent analysis and advice from Soil Food Web lab technicians enables The Great Turf Company to provide various levels of advice and assistance to facilitate turf managers, consultants and agronomists in supporting a flourishing and ever-increasing microbe population.

Activated Microbial Turf Management is NOT ‘one size fits all’; we work in partnership with you and your colleagues directly or with your agronomist to create a programme that is as much yours as it is ours.

Workshops and Seminars

In addition to providing one-to-one consultations, our Turfgrass Biology Director, Ian Macmillan (MG), and Technical Director, Andrew Turnbull – the architects of our Activated Microbial Turf Management methodology – are pleased to share their expertise in turfgrass and soil biology with fellow turf managers and consultants through educational workshops and seminars.

With a combined 75 years experience in professional turf care, Ian and Andrew have become acknowledged experts in the use of natural nutrient sources for creating healthy soils and superior playing surfaces.

The Great Turf Company’s seminars are designed to provide professional turf managers with an increased understanding of:

  • The biology of turfgrass playing surfaces: turfgrass growth and soil life
  • Biological problems caused by modern turf management: reduced photosynthesis and microbial activity
  • Biological solutions for biological problems

Workshops and seminars can be conducted at our training centre at our headquarters in Fife, Scotland, our training site at Laverstoke Park Farm in Hampshire, England, on-site, or in a pre-booked venue.
