Maintain the soil/plant relationship

For optimum turfgrass performance and root zone fertility

Healthy and superior turfgrass surfaces are produced by sustaining the natural balance of the soil/plant relationship. Within the plant, nutrients are moved to areas of growth by phyto-hormones and enzymes. A healthy plant releases carbohydrates through the roots and leaves to feed the soil micro-organisms, which, in return, break down organic matter which releases nutrients and also protects the grass plant from pathogens, such as fungal disease.  The over-use of synthetic NPK fertilisers disrupts this natural activity by limiting the effectiveness of natural plant hormones and affecting the population levels of soil micro-organisms; this results in turfgrass surfaces which are vulnerable to pests and diseases and rely on constant inputs of synthetic fertilisers and pesticides.

Furthermore, many modern playing surfaces are based on sand root zones which have low soil micro-organism activity and soluble nutrients very quickly leach through the profile. Trace elements are essential for both plant health and soil micro-organism growth but are often in low supply in these conditions.

The Great Turf Company has formulated products to address the effects of excess NPK fertilisers, and also the deficiencies found in high sand content root zones.

A healthy soil/plant relationship:

  • Enables more effective distribution of nutrients around the plant
  • Stimulates the plant’s natural defence system to resist pest and disease attack
  • Increases resistance to environmental stress and wear

Goëmar Turf

Seaweed Liquid Extract

Goëmar Turf is a high performance liquid seaweed spray which provides phyto-hormones and vitamins to enable nutrients to be assimilated from the soil and pumped around the plant more effectively. When roots need nutrients, phyto-hormones signal enzymes to transport nutrients from the leaves to the roots, but they are captured at the growing point located at the base of the leaves, the area of most demand for energy. This is the reason grass roots die back during the summer. The extra hormones in Goëmar Turf activate more enzymes that enable nutrients to get past this leaf factory and down to the roots, producing a higher root mass during the summer which leads to healthier grass. Goëmar Turf also contains elicitors that activate the natural defence system of grasses to resist disease pressure.

Goëmar Turf is produced by a unique method of processing fresh seaweed.  After harvesting, the seaweed is washed and then flash frozen to a temperature of -500C. The deep-frozen seaweed is then ground and micro-exploded to split particles and free the active molecules. This process ensures 100% retention of all the hormones, enzymes and vitamins in seaweed that invigorates and improves turfgrass growth and disease resistance.

According to the French National Agricultural Research Institute, key enzymes, called elicitors, are stimulated in plants treated with Goëmar Turf which leads to improved growth and disease resistance. Besides the amino acids, vitamins, phytohormones and betaïne, these elictors have many important effects on the plant:

  • Stimulation of plant nutrition
  • Stimulation of fertilisation
  • Stimulation of natural defences (Physio-Activator Technology) without the disease causing fungus being present.

TraceTurf

Trace elements

  • 10L
  • Application rate: 30-40L/Ha (in 200-400L of water)

TraceTurf is a multi-trace element blend designed to address the effects of excessive nitrogen applications. High performance sand-based sports pitches often require high amounts of nitrogen to produce surfaces for play in a short period of time. However, the plant is often not supplied with the correct amounts of trace elements that are essential for healthy growth. Rapidly growing turf requires a constant supply of trace elements for productive enzyme activity, but these are often in short supply due to the excessive energy provided by high applications of nitrogen; hence the need to apply more trace elements to turf.

TraceTurf is a 50% concentration of liquid seaweed with added chelated trace elements, Fe, Mn, Zn, Cu and B, plus a further 60 trace elements from seaweed juice, amino, fulvic and humic acids and vitamins, and is certified Organic. TraceTurf is easy to apply and can be tank-mixed with other liquid treatments within the Activated Turf Management Programme.
